Actually, it's 9/8/10.

And that is why I hate having lived in different countries with different conventions for writing down dates.

Me too. It lead to good things though:

1. When I write (on paper) I always write the month in words and the year in full. So 9 August 2010 or 9 Aug 2010. No uncertainty there.

2. When I name files or folders, it's always YYYY-MM-DD.

I do everything YYYY-MM-DD because it always sorts correctly and is consistent with ISO8601.

MM/DD/YYYY is a most miserable convention.

I believe YYYY-MM-DD is the international standard date notation (ISO 8601)

One point which makes me love this one is that it's "easily sortable and comparable", which is great when you have tons of files in a folder.

I'm looking forward to 10/10/10, or 101010, or '42'.

And me. I'm running a 10k race starting at 10am.
