Regarding the plugin issue, the solution is already around, .vba files: http://vimdoc.sourceforge.net/htmldoc/pi_vimball.html

Actually, the doc says that you need to do the following:

  vim someplugin.vba
  :so %
  :q

With macVim, I found that simply double clicking the .vba in finder does everything needed.
