Reinvent causes this to happen every year. And to be frank, AWS announcements generally have major impact on the internet as a whole, especially on how people do business on it. So, it's deserved, i would say.
Its the AWS developers conference right now. You see the same effect for other big tech firms during their respective equivalents.

the announcements are mostly relevant to the major audiences here, seems reasonable to think they'd get a surge of upvotes
They need to chill on posting. They posted 15 posts to the front page and thats 50% of the headlines... all amazon.
