Ask HN: Action-based OR Component based web framework (when and why)

Yes obviously this is technical doubt.

Got hired for new job as Java developer, previously working solely in PHP. Done with Zend Framework. Till I come with Java, I have no idea there are two types of web frameworks.

I need whoever has experiences in any types of frameworks action-based or component based to give some justification on when and why to use each of these frameworks.

(i.e. One is better than another at specific situation)
