Ask HN: How do I learn the reason why a post was flagged?

Is flagging some kind of super-downvote that is automatically triggered after a certain threshold of flags is reached and no human is reviewing it?

It would be nice to know why something gets removed.

A post with now 72 points and 63 comments got flagged yesterday.
