I miss foils. move the pen, to give a pointer to current word. move the sheet of paper, to do a reveal of bullets.

I did 4 layer overlays to do transitions in complex diagrams.

I really miss OHPs.

I think you’ve forgotten about the bit where you had to prepare acetate slides, carry a huge box around with you, clean all dirt off the top, get it into focus, etc. Digital brings costs and benefits.

And rubbing your foils out by mistake with your sleeve: the talks there, it's just been lempel-zif compressed into my once-white cuff.

Oh.and using permanent marker when you thought the annotations were temporary...

I would be interested to know if there is some good software which copies some of the mechanics of over head projector presentations.

Seems there are some people producing lovingly hand written presentations using tablets

The old ohp slides can be beautiful: I highly recommend digging out Roger Penrose talks on YouTube

virtual reality OHP?

I’m reminded of the wonderful things Guy Steele did with crayon on layered foils in his growing a language talk. It was more impressive since it was analog and not PowerPoint.

There have to be millions of them still sitting in closets and storerooms of offices all over the world.

We recently moved offices and I found at least 3 in the dumpster.

The best ever presentation that I remember was by Edward De Bono. Some of these are on the net. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5DK8XPUEaU He was really a gifted presenter and the man that invented "lateral thinking".
