Ask HN: Did you build your own Auto Scaling solution or scripts?

Hi everybody,

My team is currently exploring the Auto Scaling capabilities of SCM softwares like SaltStack and Auto Scaling strategies and general.

I'm wondering if any of you have experience building your own solution or would you rather rely on existing, ready-to-use solutions (like AWS Auto Scaling Groups + ELB + Target Triggers scaling policies) to Auto Scale your stack?
