Wow, I had never read that story (or even heard of it). Truly a great read! You made my friday ... have a nice weekend.
I highly recommend this.
The only thing that strikes me as odd about the story is that he's said to have been browsing Reddit and Facebook. Why would an intelligent individual like Bob not use the time to build his own company instead?
Bob no longer works for the company.
Seems like he should've been promoted
Promoted to Head of Outsourcing...
Agrees. Sounds like Bob is excellent at managing remote team(s). They should put him in charge of outsourcing to reduce development cost based on his excellent track record of cost savings and on-time, quality deliveries.
Bob went to Equifax.
Absolutely, he's one of the few who ever got outsourcing to work!
I love how they describe it as a 'scam', but this is exactly what corporations do all the time. He received a salary, and in return completed his work in a timely, efficient and apparently excellent fashion.
"All told, it looked like he earned several hundred thousand dollars a year"...
At Verizon in 2013? Seriously?
The article states that sum is from doing it at multiple companies in the area, although I suspect its total fiction
I never tire of that story -- it's the American Dream.
