The American Mosquito Control Association says at least 10 studies in the past 15 years have "unanimously denounced" them.
"The fact is that these devices just do not work," the association says.
Which makes you question all of the engineers at LG that let this become a thing?
This reminds me of all of the times the marketing team tried to push me to add "Like" and "Tweet" buttons everywhere (when I was time constrained enough as it was building an new unproven product without customers). The pressure from the suits trying to increase sales at any cost can make the people who know better do anything.
The fact it went into production in South Korea may say a lot about their cultures willingness to appease authority, rather than some malintent to deceive customers.
...Although 'chinese medicine' is huge in Asia with little evidence... so there's always betting on the capacity for self-delusion.
