Elephant in the room, why Tesla do not partner with Google for autopilot ? Google will have tons of data and Tesla will have an order of magnitude better software capabilities. Such partnership can even accelerate global automatic vehicle adoption.
Because both companies believe that owning proprietary self-driving systems will be a big competitive advantage. If one company beats the other to mainstream adoption by 12-18 months they'll have a shot at dominating the industry.
