If I didn't have to trade files with others I could quite happily use Microsoft Office 97 in lieu of whatever the new thing is called.

The issue with web browsers is only slightly more complicated. I'd love to go back to a world where web pages didn't try to be computer programs, but that's obviously not going to happen for a while.
