Star Trek episode and the Google memo conflict

In the Star Trek TOS episode "Day of the Dove," a glowing entity composed of pure energy feeds off the anger between Klingons and the Enterprise crew. It manages information, encourage misunderstandings, and arranges situations to increase the conflict and violent emotions. Kirk and the Klingon commander eventually realize the nature of the entity and that it is growing stronger and potentially dooming them to eternal conflict if they keeping going on as they are. To defeat the entity, they order their crews to simulate good will towards each other (even though they don't feel it) and to laugh as if they were happy and jovial. The entity disappears, and they proceed together with (slightly) renewed hope.
