I'd argue you should start your career and keep it at small companies unlike Asana but hey, that's just me.
I definitely think personal preference is the most important factor.
Out of curiosity, how do you qualify a small company?

I would add "Don't start your career without a road map." Whatever happens you are going to get older and won't be as competitive as new engineers. Best to plan for the inevitable.
