I think the best intuitive description of power and energy is what Elon Musk said:

"Energy is how far you can go. Power is how fast you go."

No, power is how fast you accelerate.

Actually, power and velocity are connected as follows:

  P = F . v

  where v = velocity,
        F = force,
        P = power

At constant force, Musk's statement is exactly true:

    s = W/F
    v = P/F

I cannot bear people using the argument "you look like a fool" .. this is irrelevance to the fullest.
