Ask HN: 3 serious Net Neutrality questions
I'm hoping that HN can provide me real answers to three outstanding questions I have regarding net neutrality:
1) Why aren't existing anti-competitive regulations sufficient to protect companies from ISPs targeting their traffic (i.e. blocking VOIP traffic because you have a competitive service)
2) Why are peer-networks bad? If Netflix is going to use 30% of my bandwidth as an ISP, doesn't it make sense to pull that off of my regular infrastructure?
3) If Net Neutrality is only about preventing "data discrimination" and classifying ISPs as common carriers- why are there HUNDREDS of pages of regulations? This may be my most ignorant question, but it scares me that the FCC's approach to "protecting" my internet experience is hundreds of pages of rules.
