Ask HN: Has anyone successfully monetized a TinyLetter Newsletter?

I just came across http://tinyletter.com/ a few days ago on a Show HN, this one => "My first side project: one hand picked song delivered to your inbox every day (tinyletter.com)" => https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=14696823 -- that since appears to have been either deleted or has moved.

It's free for upto 5,000 subs and the interface is very simple and straightforward, for sending daily newsletters.

I was wondering if anyone has experience with TinyLetter in terms of monetizing a very niche topic by way of product sales, or affiliate links?

Reason for asking is, I'm thinking of starting a newsletter curating the daily news in Boxing, and am wondering if I can monetize it somehow without ads (which are universally demmed super-annoying)
