Ask HN: Is IndieHackers.com dead?
* Ever since the acquisition, the hustle is just not there. Courtland used to spend a lot of time reaching out to people to get them to do interviews, in a recent podcast he said something like "I used to send hundreds of emails to people... now I don't do that anymore". I sense complacency and a feeling of "I made it".
* Now that he does not depend on advertising to make a living, that hustle to keep trying new ideas and get at least a couple of stories to the hn front page have been lost.
* In multiple podcasts, to demonstrate that he built something complicated he mentions " I built the forum from scratch" and I think " cool, but building a basic forum is... not exactly hard". I'm trying to be polite here, but I hope my point is clear.
* The forum has peaked. He makes minimal effort to keep the community engaged, does not start many conversations or actively take part in discussions. If I ran IH, I would post at least 3 to 4 threads to keep the discussion flowing and personally invite individuals to join the conversation and bring in their friends. One of the goals of the stripe acquisition was to start a vibrant community, but i see no signs of life.
* He stopped blogging and removed the link to the blog. The blog used to be a form of accountability.
