Ask HN: Right to Repair after WannaCry?

Given what happened in the UK to MRI machines, do you think there will be any gains on the "right to repair" or open hardware for that matter?

I know in recent years there have been issues with Farmers being able to modify their tractors. Apple has had issues with 3rd parties being able to repair phones.
