Ask HN: Google Cloud vs. AWS for small teams 2017
I'm currently looking at moving a Django app into either Google Cloud App Engine Flexible Environment or AWS probably using something like ElasticBeanstalk. We have a small team of developers with no real DevOps people to speak of and no time to get anyone real training.
We've been successful with Heroku but the pricing is becoming a problem. In AWS, we've kept to their managed services (S3, SQS, etc) and they've been good. Concern is taking on too much DevOps type tasks with EC2/Beanstalk such as OS patching, etc.
Are we good with using Google App Engine Flexible Environment? From my understanding its out of beta for Python 3 and the OS is managed. The more managed approach is favourable to us due to limited team members time.
Or should we go with AWS (having to seemingly take on more team load)?
Any feedback would be great.
