There's a wiki page about this phenomenon (forgot its exact name), but it's funny, I was thinking about this very book this morning, even though I haven't even read it, I just skimmed through it a couple of months ago. More exactly, I was thinking about the French Situationists (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Situationist_International), which I think this book quotes at some point.
