From the article:
> Here’s an excerpt from Brown’s column:
>>
>> “I met up with Altman the other day. He was dressed in sneakers and jeans and was looking for advice.
>>
>> I told him California has a history of millionaires running for public office on their own dime. Most wind up paying consultants a whole lot of money and losing.
> Say hello to Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom’s worst nightmare.
>
> His name is Sam Altman. He is a 32-year-old tech investor and app innovator who believes that if used right, technology can help bring an end to income inequality and a host of other social and economic problems.
>
> And he’s looking at running for governor in 2018, a race that Newsom is already in.
>
> I met up with Altman the other day. He was dressed in sneakers and jeans and was looking for advice.

I personally think the original title is potentially clickbait, but I do not have a sense of what I would change it to. I read the article before I submitted, and I think the it is sound (it says Recode reached out to Sam Altman for comments). At best, if there was a checkbox next to the article to indicate that the original title should be examined.
2nd Edit: It's now 13:39 PDT , and while this article does not show up as flagged for me in https://news.ycombinator.com/newest?next=14337225&n=31 it's no longer on the first, second, or third pages. Can someone explain to me what is going on?
There's a reason that rich folk who get elected are nominated by a major party.
It's because in a voluntary voting system, a large "Get Out The Vote" machine is necessary, even though it's not sufficient.
You don't get that machine with machine learning. You get it with thousands of organised volunteers managed by experienced party hacks.
But hey, it's a free country. Afterwards, having seen where the money goes, I suspect Sam will decide to invest in political consultancies.
