Poll: How many of you prefer a fully-remote job vs. being in the office?

I work in a remote job where I never have to go in to the office. I have done it for 3 years and I love it, and wouldn't have it any other way. Love the flexibility too much. However, I am curious what the hacker news audience thinks about working remote, so I created a poll. Hope I have covered all the possible choices.

Maybe this will also make companies take notice if they see that a large part of the audience prefers being remote, or otherwise.

EDIT/UPDATE: Just so that we are clear, the poll is for a preference, not what you are actually doing!

Depends highly on the 'job' - Big Machine/Small Role or Little Machine/Big Role?

If my job is to be a single cog working on tiny tasks in a large machine, I prefer to work remote since a lot of unproductive people tend to loiter their lives away inside these types of companies - and they will drag you down too. Its depressing and I avoid it by telecommuting and using my reclaimed free time for more important work.

However, if I'm a creative member of a small team charged with solving a big challenge, I much prefer working in an office. I've found there is a great deal of ingenuity lost by these small teams working remotely - even if youre on Slack 24/7 and have a daily group standup. There is a lot of critical information transfered in bursts when physically present that you can't yet match with online collaboration tools.

I go in more than once or twice a year (3-7 times at a guess) but otherwise I am pretty much fully remote. (It's 185km round trip so I don't go in when I don't have too)

I find I am not all that productive at the office but when I do go I find that we decide a lot of things in meetings I go in for so find it worthwhile.

Yes, I agree. At this time I never have to go in ever, but I would not mind going in a couple of times for either meetings or not necessarily even work-based meets just because IMO, face-to-face meets actually helps make people comfortable for future remote interaction.

I've been doing it for two years. It's good.
