Sorry as much as I hate Uber in principle and culture, this is a complete non story.
As a Chinese woman in tech it calls out a typical local business practice as unacceptable. Which is somewhat helpful given that Chinese tech companies pretty much worship the practices and culture of Western startups.
One doesn't want to see one's superiors participating in ritual dehumanization, regardless of the rest of the context.
