as glorified pseudoscientific clickbait.

On Chrome Android I get a new history entry for every partial step scrolling down the page. Hitting the back button leads to slowly inching back up the page 1 cm at a time.

On mobile safari it completely fills the back button history, making it impossible to actually go back. Pretty egregious UX.

Yeah it's awful, though you can go back if you hold the back button, which will pop up a list of history entries.

If you've scrolled too far, the HN page won't show up anymore even if you hold the back button.

That list is exactly what I'm talking about.

By the time I wanted to go back, that list was completely full of links back to the current page and I had to load HN from my favorites instead.

Was going to gripe about the same thing. Looks like they're injecting history per scroll event.
