Prehistory studies changed my life. To think that humanity is here for 200000+ years really gives you a new perspective of society and of our own minds.
What sometimes impresses me is how old societies used to be, in some occasions even more socially developed than modern times.
Books like the one from Herodotus are quite an interesting reading.
