Ask HN: What’s your default zoom for viewing websites on wide-screen monitors?
I use a 24" 1920x1200 monitor, and I have found that for web browsing, a 150% zoom setting is a good default. (I used to default to 135%, but I’ve found that 150% makes reading long texts even more comfortable.) Of course, every now and then, there’s a website that has larger-than-normal text, and in those instances I just go down to 125% or something like that.
Are you the same, or am I the odd one out, when it comes to zoom defaults on wide-screen monitors?
P.S. Here’s how you set your preferred default zoom: In Chrome, in advanced settings, there’s a zoom dropdown under "Web Content". In Firefox, in about:config, there’s a devPixelsPerPx flag (set 1.5 for 150%).
