"This is pretty shit, but I'm getting sick of these hit pieces on Asian countries when a lot of Asian countries (China/Japan/Korea) score higher than America on most metrics of gender inequality: http://hdr.undp.org/en/indicators/68606 "
I assume he was (at least) referencing the Vox (QZ?) video that came out slamming a Chinese dating show.
I talked to a woman that spent some time in China off the beaten path, and the general feel was that you really couldn't dress up in any amount of revealing clothing lest men just assume that wearing that clothing in and of itself was a proposition for sex. I haven't live everywhere in the "West," but I feel like that aspect has to be better over here. Especially since this woman was comparing that environment to living in Canada (and how she couldn't wear a lot of the things there that she could back home).
> "Why would these women allow themselves to be shamed in this way? What would their fathers say?" asked another netizen.
I am wondering the same thing. Why are these female co-workers (appearing to be) wilfully participating? Who says they'd lose their jobs?
