I do like how the "simplified" privacy controls conflates sharing choices you would want to make with sharing choices that don't benefit you in any way. E.g.: Share your location with the weather app and microsoft? Yes/No. Share your location only with the weather app? Sorry, that's not possible.

To be fair, if the weather app is developed by Microsoft, then you are sharing your location with Microsoft.

There is no need for the weather app to identify you as the user. It only needs to fetch the weather data for a given location.

That's a valid point and the weather app was a bad example. But the wording sounds like the same applies to third-party apps.
