Jailbroken iPad Supports External Hard Drives

I've been wondering, do you really need to jailbreak to get this functionality? Seems like you can hook just about anything up with the 'Camera Kit' (aka Apples steath USB adapter).

So is it possible rig a USB hub up to allow for multiple USB devices hooked up to an iPad?

Would be cool to have a third-party dock that you can plug a bunch of USB devices into the iPad.
