Does this mean we finally can ditch JavaScript and use bash when we code our web apps? (Only joking a little bit, actually curious about the answer.)

Not if you want to manipulate the DOM or use many of the browser APIs, AFAICT.

Ah, but why not expose the DOM on /sysfs and just hack away using sed and awk. What could possibly go wrong.
