Faith in fake Apple Watch news industry falls 71%

Also, the author of this article criticizes the original article for playing fast and loose with facts. But then takes an unsubstantiated claim from the CEO of the company in question as evidence that the Apple Watch is doing great. Maybe not the best source for such information. I've never heard a CEO say "Sales are not what we hoped" without raw data forcing that concession out of him/her.

Oh. I see. The headline should be"Fake News: Apple Watch Sales Fell 71%."

"These estimated figures are based on the analyst’s own research, but I don’t think they include any definitive Apple Store retail or online sales data, nor do I think they include sales through those non-tech department stores in which Apple Watch is often sold. "

So the author "thinks"? How is this better than the source being criticized?

The watch debuted to a backlog of orders and 3.6 million units were shipped in its first three months on the market. But sales plummeted to just 1.6 million in the latest quarter, according to IDC. That's in spite of a price discount.

If you do the math - that's actually closer to 45% than 55%, but who really cares, right? Which is interesting to know because:

Apple (AAPL, Tech30) does not break out separate sales figures for its Apple Watch and did not respond to requests for comment on the IDC report.

I think the media are always looking to try and topple the Apple hype machine so when they get something like this, they go running around crowing about how this is finally going to sink Apple.
