I hope posts like this aren't the future of Hacker News.

Would you prefer an Ask YC: where in the world are you?

Nope.

hahaha. Ok, so, where are you jey?

  Galaxy: Milky Way
  Star: Sol
  Planet: Earth
  ICBM: 37.784329, -122.417682

What a coincidence! we are in the same Galaxy!

Unless you can point to some stats somewhere else, I think it's interesting to see where our community members are. Although the bulk will be in North America, I couldn't tell the proportion in Europe for example (what if it'd be 20% already?)...

Even if it's by no means a scientific way to find out, it can give us an idea.

I fully agree - it seems as though some people truly have nothing in their head of greater importance than a "poll" as inane as this . . .

I suspect this poll will be negatively biased towards Europe since it is posted 23.00 GMT - just around when Europeans go to bed.

Oh well, now at least there's one point for Europe :-)

I would think PG could whip up a quick page off the logs: http://www.hostip.info/dl/index.html

You could be in orbit, right? They have the internet on the ISS.

I can't help to notice that apparently 10% of the population of Antarctica is reading hacker news.

I'm in Russia, answered "Europe", is it correct?

Asians list your cities. I am in Tokyo.

Hong Kong (originally from US)

shouldn't we only be able to vote for one option in the polls?
