That would be great. It can deal a final blow to Apple's refusal to support free codecs in their browsers.

At last it will be possible to save space and encode only in high quality free codecs, using vlc.js as a fallback for crippled Apple systems.

This, a thousand times. The mess that is Plex sucks, a web browser tool which could play media files without all the drama would be a game changer for those of us who don't consume media through iTunes.

Though today the battle spreads from codecs to adaptive streaming standards. Apple (as expected) wasn't eager to support MPEG-DASH / MSE. It's as if they just can't do without messing things up for everyone.

Yeah, Plex is the worst.

What are you talking about? I have zero pain points with the thing.
