If you don't like Apple's policies there is something you can do about it.

I'm pretty sure you don't need to let the HN community know that Linux is a great alternative.

Please share links of interest to the community. Don't use HN to make inane statements...it's just a waste of time.

A waste of your time, maybe. But look, he got 9 karma points from it so far!

In defense of this post, raging against the decisions of a corporation (or any other entity) is so often followed by great waves of apathy and submission.

This is a gentle reminder that you have a choice and you can vote with your wallet. (Generally -- I don't think the phone vs OS specificity is relevant here)

This is not helpful. The OS debate is almost completely tangental to Apple's smart phone policies.

To be fair, the poster didn't say anything about smart phone policies.

Actually this might backfire as Canonical has made some pretty strange decisions lately and is a corporation after all, just a much smaller one.

What's wrong with something community driven such as Debian or FreeBSD ?

I use it, but I don't see how this affects the mobile device market?

Switching to Ubuntu solves all your problems.
