It's important to always rinse cat hair before consuming it.

I generally try to avoid consuming cat hair if I can... but at the point i'm consuming cat hair, I'm not sure rinsed is better.

But on second read, I'm guessing you meant to rinse off the cat hair?

My ancedotal evidence says it depends. A handful of candy dropped will have cat hair: A single piece, maybe not.

I generally brush it off and eat it nevertheless.

That's why you brush or rinse it off first depending on the food in question.

I think you might have forgotten the most sanitizing procedure. Blowing on it. Works for NES cartridges and cat hair on a cookie.
