*db is common nomenclature for debuggers: gdb, lldb, cdb, pdb
It's also a common suffix for databases, whereas "dbg" is unambiguous.
If I saw dbg I would have no idea what you were talking about.
"DBG" == "Debugger" is a fairly common thing.
Not to me, and have been in the field 10 years. Would be curious to see the survey results.. all I can say is 100% would not recognize it.
But usually in lowercase...
Would be cool to get the naming right at the beginning. RevDBG makes much more sense
The official python debugger is called pdb, so this is following convention. Moreover, bdb and gdb have coexisted since the 80s without causing much confusion. I think we'll survive.
