Ask HN: Why does AWS Lambda supports Python 2.7 but not 3.x?

The AWS lambda documentation says they support Python 2.7 (wich will be EOL'ed in 4 years - @2020).

There is a lot of work being done in the Python community to support Python 3 in almost all popular modules.

Does anyone if there is a technical / non-marketing explanation to this ?
