By now you can do better in c#. You can do the following, for instance:

    mylist.Select(item => item.description)
          .Where(descr => descr != "")
          .Aggregate(a,b => a + "\n" +  b)

Edit: I guess those features weren't available at the time of this article? Haven't used c# for long enough to be sure.
