Ask HN: How do you integrate remote development into your family?

My goal is to work remotely when I make my next hop and wondered what works and what doesn't? We're buying a house and one of the things I've always wanted to build an out-office-house but what is your setup?

Looking for tips on spouse/kids, but if you have a particularly awesome home office, I want to hear about that, too!
