One of the big gaps in programming education is the relative lack of material on how to find, comprehend, and use code written by others. Most "Learn language X" references assume the programmer is starting from scratch. Yet as I explore programming farther I'm increasingly understanding the value of learning about applications, libraries, and frameworks written by others. To use human language education as an analogy, syntax, reserve words, and grammar are the equivalent of grade school topics in programming. We need more high school style tutorials that survey, critique, and teach the style of code written by top programmers.
