You can make very nice applications with the same LAMP stack that's worked since 2002 or so. All these modern frameworks are just a huge time-waste in my opinion. You don't need 20 libraries to make an XMLHttpRequest.
Ember.js, for example, has all kinds of nice buffering features, so you aren't making multiple un-needed ajax calls back to your server.
You will also end up needing to re-invent the wheel if you make anything complex.
