Ask HN: Finding the next investor (thats not from Texas)

I co-founded a start up in early 2015 focused around airspace architecture for drone systems in the urban environment. We have been performing research and development for over a year and a half on advanced autonomous systems. We have been in contact with multiple potential investors and come up with some great leads. However we seem to be stuck in a rut with being routed towards Texas money. While I am not trying to group, I've founded from my experience that autonomous systems development and Texas oil money doesn't always click. Does anyone have any advice for getting in contact with investors from the valley or at least more technically informed investors?
