Mr Rumsfeld, it's cool that you're doing this and all but I believe the title you're looking for is "I Decided to Commission An App"!

It sounds like he could reasonably be considered the game designer. Considering the number of people in their 50's let alone 80's who've never bothered to learn the first thing about technology, I'm pretty inclined to give him a pass on getting the terminology 100% right.

Churchill was the game designer. Rumsfeld is the Khing.com in this story.

Wow, the reveal was pretty intense. I was not expecting it to be that Rumsfeld! ... and now to go download the game....

Or not. iOS only: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/churchill-solitaire/id103080...

Can we get rid of these stupid link-bait articles!? It like posting a title "5 year old makes his first million" (through inheritance). It's pure junk and if you posted the correct title "83 year old hires company to build app" then no one would read it

For those looking for their daily dose of snark, I encourage you to read the comment section. Excellent stuff.

For those more curious: I like how he said developed but there's not a clear indication what kind of work he did to result in the app. My guess is minimal.

I can see that a lot of people are saying how this guy commissioned an app, fair enough.

However, as there is now a bunch of people reading this that are also somewhat interested in the subject, myself included, does anyone want to share any stories of older people (60+) that have actually built applications or started a career in programming/engineering?

I am really interested to hear them...

> As my friend Andre de Staercke once put it to me, “What one needs in life are the pessimism of intelligence and the optimism of will.”

It was Antonio Gramsci who said (well, wrote) that, and in turn ascribed it to Romain Rolland.
