My guess is that it's a collective name for all the retail systems Amazon are running to manage logistics, inventory, and everything else that makes an e-commerce business tick. A lot of that may well be running on AWS, although whenever that comes up you always hear people mentioning quite a few of their core systems have yet to be migrated.
