Ask HN: Example Open Source Business Models

Without getting into the specifics just now, I've got a very nice prototype product, and I could see a model where third parties would like it for their clients - but I'm unconvinced that enough would license it for their clients. So I'm looking for inspiration!

What are the best examples of business models where the product itself is open source?
