What I learned with Rdio without using Rdio

It will be interesting to see what Rdio users will be doing, sign up for Pandora or jump ship to Spotify.

As an Rdio user myself I'm sad that Rdio will be going away. I hope Pandora will keep it alive but who knows.

I wanted to try out Spotify but when I had to enter my credit card details to create a trail account I closed my browser window, never to return. Call me pedantic..

Still searching for an Rdio substitute though...

Did Rdio not do the same thing?

Maybe they did later on, but not when I created an account.

After the news about Rdio, I have started to search for a replacement. So far I have tried Spotify, Deezer and Google Play Music.

With respect to the web player, I felt that Google's service is closer to Rdio in listening experience than others. It has a clean interface, search works well, and curated-radio is very good. On the other hand, Spotify desktop app on Linux is OK and would be a good replacement to Rdio web player, but I have not tried any mobile app yet.

I wonder if "Walt Street Journal" was intentional, or a happy accident.
