This shouldn't be any faster than normal EC2.

(Edit: I may have misunderstood the comment. This will certainly have a faster interconnect to EC2 compared to a non-EC2 dedicated server.)

No, but if you need a dedicated server in addition to other EC2 hosts it will certainly be faster to be in a AWS data center.

If it was just about network speed, it would be cheaper to get the direct 10G cross-connection to Amazon's network than to pay the premium for the dedicated hardware.

You want decent performance but your budgeting process only allows you to use AWS.

It's called Amazon. Other cloud services and bare metal hosts are not called Amazon.
