I know a half dozen people who have had children while working at Facebook and all of them have taken all (or almost all) of that time.
I never felt pressure not to take leave. The hardest part was convincing myself that things would keep running without me.
It's also just the right thing to do.
Like, could you, in theory, have a baby making rotation of 3 "girlfriends" with 4 months of paternal leave each per year for an eternal vacation?
I thankfully live in Canada, a civilized country that allows a full year.
I don't know what it would mean if they didn't, though. I think many successful people have trouble believing that their work will be done well in their absence.
There are issues around vacation, especially "unlimited PTO" as a perk, but no one seems shy about paternity and maternity leave.
