Been reading up on this. The facts so far;

- Happened right outside Stade de France (stadium) where France is playing Germany in a friendly soccer match.

- President Hollande was present but has been evacuated. Match continuing, and people are kept inside the stadium.

- Shots fired in a cambodian restaurant. 10 people feared dead. Hånd granades thrown near the location.

- The suspect is male (there are now three shootings and several suspects...). Only one suspect as of now. Someone managed to periscope some of the incident.

They did finish the game, but many people are afraid to leave the stadium so now many of the fans just came onto the field until they can be assured they'll be able to leave safely.

To the extent this story is on-topic, perhaps the "interesting new phenomenon" will be a different discussion about gun regulation than the one to which we've become accustomed in the USA.

The "interesting new phenomenon" is the rise of violence in the last decade due to the amount of Islam-crazed individuals that we are letting in. I don't see how gun control is remotely related to this.

I wonder how will Merkel and those similar to her defend their stance of letting everything in. I am sad, really sad, sad to see we are allowing this to happen to us. The only thing that can happen is that a new ethnic cleanser will rise to power and some people will mourn asking themselves how did we reach this point again. I will not be one of those mourning.

Not in the EU so I'm not sure what the atmosphere there is, but to me that sounds pretty racist. I bet it's an extraordinarily small percentage of Muslim immigrants who are violently inclined.

About 10% of the immigrants will end up in crime according to the German police. 15% of those will end up committing multiple crimes:

I believe that jMiles' point is this: When a shooting happens in the US, everyone[1] says that it's the fault of the US's crazy gun laws - that just about anyone can have a gun. When it happens in France, though, it can't be the fault of the US's gun laws.
