Yes, in the early days it would have been an image using cats and figures from popular culture to illustrate what proponents of major schools of macroeconomics think of each other.

Come to think of it... I'd still expect that to play well here.

Haha, you're the first person I've seen notice that. FWIW, I didn't make this version but made the original (with the "hidden" text) that didn't have Haskell or Lisp. This is pretty cool though :-)

I was looking at that and thinking Haskell-biased.

It is too bad Perl isn't in the mix. You could get great stereotypes from that one. (But how many would understand a picture of a pair of training wheels sitting on the ground as their image of PHP folks?)

Of all of the groups, the ones who get to see the most attractive people are the Lisp fans. OK, attractive people they disagree with, but still attractive.

I particularly like the distinction between Java and Ruby as seen by Lisp fans. Just as overhyped, just as vaporous... but (trying to be) sexier.

I think I understood all of that except Haskell as seen by LISP fans. Haskell is a cute but vicious cat? What?

The caption on that image is usually "You make kitty scared" (http://www.hollow-hill.com/sabina/images/you-make-kitty-scar...). I took that to mean that Lispers see Haskell and get scared by it's seemingly unnecessary complexity.

Cute: very elegant.

Vicious: I have to model all my program's data structures within Haskell's type paradigm, or I get ripped to shreds by the strict type checker.

Alternative explanation: the photo shows what I looked like after I programmed in Haskell for a while :-)

Bias: I'm a lisp programmer xD

My guess: "pure fp" can be a scary experience. :)
